Mallett was drafted by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He supported quarterback Tom Brady for three seasons before being traded to the Houston Texans in 2014. Between his time in Houston and his subsequent season with the Baltimore Ravens, Mallett eventually started eight NFL games.

After his playing days ended, Mallett moved into coaching, first as an assistant coach and then as head coach at Whitehall High School in Arkansas. He had become head coach in February 2022 and served in that capacity until his death.

Mallet is the Best Recruit
Mallett was a big recruit, literally, straight out of high school. He broke into Elite 11 as a 5-star QB heading to Michigan. He got the nickname Big Tex, he was big and his arms were bigger. Mallett was in front of everyone there, except JaMarcus Russell of LSU, who was there as a consultant.
