Still, Using the Google Drive App? Beware This App Will Be Discontinued on Windows on August 8, 2023

Is any information made for you guys who are still using the Google Drive App? Beware that this application will be stopped on Windows on August 8, 2023. This information certainly surprises its users because Google's online data storage service application, namely Drive, will no longer be able to be used on computers (PCs) with Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 operating systems (OS) on August 2023.

The deprecation of Drive app service on both of these legacy Windows OS is listed on the Google Drive for PC support page that appears to have been updated recently.

On the page, Google also said starting the same month, they will also stop supporting Drive applications on PCs with Windows Server 2012 OS, as well as all 32-bit Windows OS variants, including Windows 10.

Reasons Google Drive App is Discontinued in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1

It is not stated exactly on what date the suspension of support for the Google Drive application for PC will take effect. It could be, the Drive application will no longer be able to be used on PCs with Windows OS above as of August 1, 2023.

If you want to keep using Google Drive on your PC, users are advised to update their OS to at least the 64-bit version of Windows 10 before August 2023.

Windows 8, 8.1, to Windows 10 32-bit users themselves can still access Google Drive services on their PCs. However, this can only be done through an internet browser, not through an application.

Because through an internet browser, users certainly will not enjoy several Drive features that are usually offered specifically for the PC version of the Drive application.

One of them is that they cannot synchronize (sync) folders on their PC storage media with folders stored on Drive storage on the internet.

In addition, users can no longer back up photos and videos stored in a folder on a PC to the Google Photos service automatically.  That is, uploading files or photos and videos from a folder on a PC can only be done manually via an internet browser.

For those of you who use this data storage application, there is still time to move it. Hopefully information about "Still using the Google Drive App? Beware this application is stopped on Windows on August 8, 2023" is useful.
