The beginning of the struggle took place between America and Britain. In the 1700s, the territory of America began to be controlled by British colonies.

From 1763 to 1773, England's King George III increasingly pressured the colonies as he and the British Parliament imposed a succession of taxes and draconian laws against them.

By the 1770s, thirteen British colonies controlled most of the two-and-a-half million population.

The new tax policies were deemed unconstitutional by Americans because they were not represented in Parliament. Finally began resistance from the Americans in April 1775.

Following the American Revolution, the colonies declared independence from the British Empire on July 4, 1776, and established the United States.

After Independence, there were still many battles going on. But it began to end when it had its political system, its laws, and government.

The "Fourth of July festivities" are celebrated as American Independence Day.
