"I don't feel like myself unless my hair is shaved. Even when I'm old, I'll still look like that," the Irishwoman said in an interview, as reported by Page six.
Sinead O'Connor's Shaved Hair Relates to Her Sad Story in Childhood
During an appearance on a talk show hosted by Dr. Phill in 2017, Sinead revealed why she prefers to appear bald. It turned out to be related to his sad story of childhood.
"When we were kids, my sister had beautiful red hair. That's why I envy him," Sinead said at the time.
But their mother didn't think so. The mother judged that her brother's red hair was ugly.

"But my mother thought that my sister's hair was ugly, terrible, and disgusting. And she started – when I had long hair – she would introduce us as her beautiful daughter (Sinead) and ugly daughter (older sister). And that's why I shaved my head."
In addition, the 'Nothing Compares 2 U' singer said it would be dangerous if she styled her hair in a more traditional feminine style. Because it can trigger people to disturb him.
"I don't want to be raped. I don't want to be wronged. I don't want to dress like a girl. I don't want to be beautiful," she insisted.

When she started her career as a singer in 1987, Sinead's appearance with her shaved head was opposed by record labels. At that time the label asked her to grow her hair and wear skirts and high heels.
