Holger Rune, seeded fourth in Denmark, performed poorly in a match at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City. The 20-year-old made many mistakes of his own and was eventually defeated by Carballes Baena, a 30-year-old Spaniard, with a score of 6-3 4-6 6-3 6-2.
