Jason Mamoa asked tourists not to travel to Maui. The island is still struggling to recover from the wildfires.
The Great Wildfires caused significant shocks to Hawaii's grief and economy
"Maui is not a place for vacation right now. Don't vacation to Maui," he wrote on Instagram.
More than 90 people have been recorded dead in the Maui fires. Historic cities like Lahaina were reduced to ashes.

Jason Mamoa shared a video of a fire in Maui. The caption in the video asks tourists to give the community time to recover from the fire.
The comments were prompted by residents who saw tourists swimming on the beach while residents were still counting the dead.

"The waters where our resident just died three days ago are the same place for tourists to swim," one resident told the BBC.
He said that no Hawaiian would swim, snorkel and surf under such tragic circumstances.
"No one revels in tragedy and goes on with their lives as if nothing happened," he continued.
Local officials have asked people not to make nonessential trips to Maui.
However, the loss of tourism will cause a significant shock to Hawaii's economy. Tourism was Hawaii's largest source of revenue in 2019, according to the Hawaii Tourism Authority.
