The trailer is set in the condition of Japan which has been devastated by World War II. However, the distress is not over because Godzilla is present to destroy the country even more.

From 'Zero' to 'Minus'

The 30-second video also shows the ground shaking, trains being thrown off, and incomplete buildings getting destroyed.

Godzilla is then shown briefly in the video as he rampaging in the middle of a city that is already full of ruins.

"After the war, Japan lost everything. From 'Zero' to 'Minus'," the trailer reads.

Toho International president Koji Ueda in a statement revealed the image of Godzilla Minus One, without announcing details of the film's main cast.

"Set in postwar Japan, Godzilla Minus One will once again show many people Godzilla is a terrifying and incredible power that you already feel from trailers and teaser posters," Koji Ueda wrote.

"The concept is that Japan, which has been devastated by war, faces a new threat with Godzilla, bringing the country into a 'minus,'" he told Escapist Magazine on July 11.

The trailer comes after Toho last year announced that Godzilla Day was preparing the latest film from the popular Godzilla franchise.

Godzilla Minus One is written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki who directed Lupin III: The First, Parasyte: Part 1 and Parts, Stand by Me Doraemon as well as its sequels, and more.

Godzilla Minus One is the first Godzilla film produced in Japan after Shin Godzilla in 2016.
