Church roof in Mexico collapses, 7 dead
Well! When the roof of a church in Mexico collapsed, 7 people were killed, this happened in northeast Mexico during a service. This tragic incident occurred in the coastal city of Ciudad Madero on Sunday (2/10) local time.

"Seven people are confirmed dead, and 10 injured people have been rescued," a spokesman for the Tamaulipas state government said in a statement, adding that there were still many people crushed by the rubble, as quoted by AFP news agency, Monday (2/10/2023).
Eucharistic celebrations are underway as the ceiling collapses
Local media reported that at least 20 people were still missing under the rubble. It was reported that the celebration of the Eucharist was in progress when the ceiling of the church collapsed.

A government statement said the incident took place in the afternoon.
In images broadcast on Milenio Television, dozens of people can be seen trying to hold part of the collapsed building with poles, while others walked through the rubble in search of survivors.
"We are having a very difficult time... The roof of a church collapsed during the celebration of the Eucharist," the bishop of the local diocese Jose Armando Alvarez said in a video posted to social media.
