Stewards find plank wear position not by F1 technical rules

Shortly after the race was over, the Ferrari and Mercedes teams were summoned by stewards because there was a problem checking the cars of both drivers. Stewards found the plank wear position did not comply with F1's technical rules.

As a result, the FIA disqualified Hamilton and Leclerc from the 2023 US GP F1 race, aka not getting points, because they were considered to violate the rules. The final position of the race other than Verstappen was changed.

Norris finished runner-up with Carlos Sainz Jr. in third. Sergio Perez moved up to fourth, followed by George Russell in fifth. The top 10 was filled by Pierre Gasly, Lance Stroll, Yuki Tsunoda, Alex Albon, and Logan Sargeant.

Sargeant, a rookie driver at Williams, finally picked up his first points in F1 2023, finishing 10th. Before this, the 22-year-old's highest finish was 11th at the British GP.

The FIA investigated similar issues in Verstappen and Norris' plank wear, but neither was deemed to have broken the rules.
