Deveraux survived by biting crocodile's eyelid

Deveraux originally stopped at the lake while on his way to build a fence near the Finniss River. He stopped watching the fish swimming in the middle of the receding water. Unexpectedly, a terrible crocodile appeared.

The beast was like tying its right leg, shaking it like a puppet, and pulling it into the water. To escape, Deveraux initially tried to kick the crocodile's ribs with his other leg. Not working, he decided to just bite it.

"I was in an awkward position but accidentally my teeth were on his eyelids. It was quite thick, but I jerked his eyelids and he took me off."

He jumped up directly and ran to his car. The crocodile chased him but stopped. Deveraux used towels and ropes to stop bleeding in his leg before his brother drove him 130km to the Royal Darwin Hospital.

After being treated for some time, he recovered and said he would learn from his experience, to be more aware of crocodiles.

According to the local government, crocodiles are an important industry in the Northern Territory and are protected by law. They are considered to play a role in scientific interests as well as being a tourist attraction.

The saltwater crocodile itself is considered the largest living reptile. Male crocodiles can grow up to 6 meters and weigh 1,000-1,500 kg. While females are much smaller and rarely exceed 3 meters. They are apex predators, ambushing most prey and then drowning or swallowing it whole. They prey on almost all animals that enter its territory.
