Yamal opened Spain's lead in the fifth minute. Starting with Mikel Merino's pass to Joselu in the penalty area, the ball failed to pass the Real Madrid player and headed towards Yamal.

Spain, who controlled the match, easily broke through the Cypriot defense. The short passes that are their trademark are shown.

In the 22nd minute, Spain doubled the score through Mikel Oryazabal. A 1-2 partnership with Grimaldo on the left side of Spain's attack made it easier for Oryazabal to get into the penalty area.

He immediately punted the ball through the legs of Joel Mall. The goal was disallowed but VAR ruled it out because Oryazabal was not in an offside position.

One chance was obtained by Zubimendi in the 26th minute with a fierce kick that still hit the post.

Spain then made it 3-0 in the 28th minute thanks to a goal from Joselu, who stood free at the far post to head home Oryazabal's corner.

The score lasted until halftime. Entering in the second half, Spain still dominated the game and tried to add a goal.

Cyprus could have reduced the lead to 1-3 in the 73rd minute. Gavi lost the ball in midfield and made it easy for Charalampos Charalampous to send a through pass which Kostas Pileas passed into a goal against David Raya.

The goal was reviewed by VAR for a foul on Gavi but was eventually passed.

Until the Cyprus vs Spain match was completed, no additional goals were scored. Spain are firmly in first place in Group A with 18 points from seven, two ahead of Scotland in second.
