Leonardo DiCaprio is very grateful for Sharon Stone's actions

"I don't know if I sent him a physical thank-you gift, but I can't thank him enough," the actor said.

On The Quick and The Dead, Sharon Stone served as one of the producers. He also had the discretion to ask Russell Crowe to appear in the film directed by Sam Raimi.

Aside from being a producer, Sharon Stone also plays Ellen, a firearms expert who moves to a shanty town and befriends a young man named Kid, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

"The boy named Leonardo DiCaprio was the only one who made it through the audition, in my opinion, he was the only kid who came and cried, begging his father to love him as he died in that scene," she wrote.

But the TriStar Pictures studio could not afford to pay the Titanic star's salary.

"The studio said if I wanted it then I could pay it with my salary. Then I did it," he said.

Leonardo DiCaprio is not the only person so sought by Sharon Stone. He also asked the studio to hire Sam Raimi for the project. But it again drew protests.

"At the time, Sam Raimi's low-budget horror films like The Evil Dead and Army of the Darkness made the studio feel like he was a D-grade director," he recalls.

Finally, the director was recruited for the film. But not after Sharon Stone explained, that hiring Sam Raimi meant he wouldn't get paid at all because the money will be used to pay directors as well.
