In the Euro 2024 Group B Qualifying match held at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, Saturday (11/18/2023) at 2.45 pm ET, the Netherlands fielded Cody Gakpo, Weghorst, and Xavi Simons in attack.
The course of the match "Netherlands vs Ireland"
The Netherlands played dominantly, creating 19 attempts throughout the 90 minutes, with five of them leading to goal. Ireland, who defended a lot, were forced to give up only one attempt on target out of a total of three.
The Netherlands looked like they were going to win big when they took the lead in the 11th minute through Weghorst. The Dutch built an attack from the bottom and Stefan de Vrij, who had the last ball, sent a through pass to Weghorst.

Weghorst from the middle of the field managed to chase the ball into the penalty area and finished with a fierce strike into the top left corner of Gavin Bazunu's goal.
The Dutch tried to add goals in the rest of the match but always failed. At the end of the match, the score of 1-0 held on for the victory of Ronald Koeman's men.
This result brings the Netherlands firmly to second place in Group B standings with 15 points from seven matches. This is enough to send the Netherlands through to Euro 2024 even though there is still one game left and three points ahead of Greece in third.
Ireland is fourth with six points and still has a chance to qualify for the Playoffs through a position in the UEFA Nations League.
