On penalties, Arsenal defeated Monaco in the Emirates Cup pre-season tournament. Arsenal became champions after defeating AS Monaco on penalties.

The Arsenal vs Monaco match was held at Emirates Stadium in the Emirates Cup preseason tournament match, Thursday (3/7/2023). The host attempted to take the attacking instinct.

In the 31st minute, AS Monaco could steal a goal

But Arsenal's back line still performed solidly to stem the attack from Monaco. AS Monaco could even steal a goal in the 31st minute.

Mohamed Camara stabbed in from the right side. He released a cross that could be snatched into a goal by Youssouf Fofana.

Two minutes before the end of the first half, Arsenal could finally score the equalizer. Eddie Nketiah rattled Monaco's net after being able to cheat the ball in front of the goal using a corner pass.

Arsenal were still more dominant after the break. The London Cannons' dangerous chance came in the 75th minute.

Leandro Trossard had a chance. However, he preferred to take a shot from a tight angle until the ball could be secured by Philipp Kohn.

Both teams failed to score in the second half. The 1-1 lead lasted until 90 minutes.

This situation made the match have to be decided on penalties. In the high-five round, Arsenal's five kickers can do their job well.

Martin Odegaard, Jorginho, Kai Havertz, Fabio Vieira, and Gabriel scored from 12 passes for Arsenal. While in the Monaco camp, Takumi Minamino executed well as the fourth kicker. His shot was blocked by Aaron Ramsdale.

Arsenal won the game 5-4 on penalties or 6-5 overall. The Gunners are entitled to the Emirates Cup title.
