Judge Arthur Engoron of New York state court said Trump and his family company committed fraud by inflating the value of property and other assets.

Trump's Net Worth Appraisal and Inflated

Engoron also described how Trump, his adult sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, the Trump Organization, and other defendants made judgments and inflated Trump's net worth to fit their business needs.

This is by Attorney General Leticia James' accusation that Trump has overestimated his net worth between US $ 812 million (Rp 12.5 trillion) to US $ 2.2 billion (Rp 34 trillion).

"It was a fantasy world, not the real world," Engoron wrote, quoted Wednesday (8/27/2023).

"Even in the world of high-level finance, this court cannot support a proposition that considers the misstatement of at least 812 million dollars to be 'immaterial.'"

Engoron ordered the cancellation of certificates allowing some Trump businesses including the Trump Organization to operate in New York and ordered the appointment of custodians to manage the cancellation of those businesses.

The plan, this case will later be resolved and set with a hearing on the determination of compensation on October 2.

In response to these allegations, Trump and several defendants rejected them. Trump and the other defendants argue that they never committed fraud and that the disputed transactions were profitable. They plan to appeal Engoron's decision.

"Today's outrageous decision is completely inconsistent with the facts and the law. President Trump and his family will pursue all available appeals to correct this error of justice," Christopher Kise, Trump's attorney, said in a statement.
