Coco Gauff carried the U.S. flag to the summit after defeating Czech Republic's Karolina Muchova in the semifinals. Competing at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, New York, Thursday (7/9), Gauff defeated Muchova with a score of 6-4 and 7-5.
Coco Gauff's success in the US Open final was the first of her career
This success was also the first US Open final in the 19-year-old's career. But second at the grand slam level after reaching the French Open final last year.
"At some (fights) the numbers were so loud, I didn't know if my ears would be okay. (Shout) even louder, it's crazy," Gauff said of the crowd noise while supporting her against Muchova.

"I grew up watching this tournament, (qualifying for the final) feels special. But the work is not done."
The final at this year's US Open also made Coco Gauff the youngest player to do so since Serena Williams in 1999. It also paved the way for her to clinch her first grand slam since stealing the world's limelight at the age of 15 at Wimbledon 2019.
Gauff's path to a first grand slam title on home soil must be earned by facing an opponent who is at the peak of his performance. None other than the Belarusian tennis player who next week will sit in the world number one position, Aryna Sabalenka.
Sabalenka reached the US Open final by defeating another American, Madison Keys. Competing on the same court as Gauff-Muchova, Sabalenka won dramatically with positions of 0-6, 7(7)-6(1), and 7(10)-6(5).
For Sabalenka, the final against Gauff on Saturday (9/9) will be her first US Open final. He is also chasing a second grand slam after winning the Australian Open earlier this year.
