This is an effort to prevent customers from becoming too drunk and vomiting inside the restaurant.

The Incidence of Vomiting in Restaurant Rooms Has Decreased

According to CBS News, the Oakland restaurant has been using the rule for two years to warn mimosa drinkers that they will be charged a cleaning fee if they vomit inside the restaurant.

"Dear all mimosa lovers, Please drink responsibly and know your limits. A cleaning fee of US$50 will be automatically credited to your bill when you vomit in our public places. Thank you very much for understanding," the rule reads.

The restaurant owner said he hasn't charged anyone a cleaning fee, but he added that the rule serves as a precaution.

According to People Magazine, other San Francisco restaurants also warned customers that they would be charged $50 for each poisoning incident.

The restaurant stated that incidents of vomiting indoors have decreased since the note was posted.

"It's better, but once every two weeks someone vomits. Now they go out," the owner said.

Not just California, a restaurant in Singapore has also recently attracted attention online after a viral video showed a woman arguing with restaurant staff.

The staffer insisted that she pay a $15 cleaning fee after her drunk friend vomited.

It's not just restaurants that charge extra to clean up the mess.

Uber also recently allowed drivers to charge cleaning fees in the U.S., which range from $20 to $150 when passengers wreak havoc.
