This was alleged by the US Labor Council on Friday (10/13/2023).

Twitter Accused of Violating Federal Law

In his complaint, the regional director of the U.S. National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) accused X, formerly known as Twitter, of violating federal laws that prohibit punishing employees for communicating and organizing with others regarding their working conditions.

The NLRB said the dispute began on Nov. 10, 2022.

This was after Musk ordered workers back into the office last November and would carry out firings if they were absent.

Yao Yue's employee responded with a post on Twitter telling her co-workers.

"Don't resign, let him fire you," she wrote.

Days later, he was dismissed for violating the National Labor Relations Act, according to the complaint.

Musk completed his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter last October and began his ownership with a series of firings, including top executives, laying off more than half of his workforce as a cost-cutting measure.

The company is facing a series of lawsuits as a result of the layoffs.

These included claims that the company targeted women and workers with disabilities and failed to pay severance promised to laid-off employees.

The company has denied any wrongdoing in the cases in which it has filed a response.
