Germany opened the scoring through Antonio Rudiger in the 25th minute. However, Mexico turned things around through goals from Urien Antuna (37') and Erick Sanchez (47'). Niclas Fullkrug then saved Germany from defeat with his goal in the 51st minute.

In the first half, the Mexican national team immediately pressed at the beginning of the game. Luis Romo's shot began to threaten when the game was only three minutes away. But the effort was still saved by Marc-André ter Stegen.
