Liverpool were on the gas from the start of the game. Mohamed Salah's shot in the fifth minute was blocked by Union SG goalkeeper Anthony Moris.
Darwin Nunez broke into the Union SG goal in the tenth minute after grabbing the ball from Ryan Gravenberch's shot which Moris parried. The judge raised the offside flag.

Liverpool again got a golden opportunity seven minutes later. Salah's pull pass in the box went to Nunez, but the Uruguayan forward failed to score in the net.

Liverpool broke the deadlock just before halftime with a goal from Ryan Gravenberch who put his name on the scoreboard.

Liverpool struggled to develop the game due to pressing from Union SG players. The home team had a chance in the 80th minute through Luis Diaz's low kick that hit the post.
Liverpool doubled the lead in injury time. Through a counterattack scheme, Diogo Jota was able to blast the ball into the Union SG goal and ensure Liverpool's victory to 2-0.
