Vinicius Junior has been racially abused

However, in his successful run with Madrid, Vini Jr. also had to face racial abuse several times.

The most striking incident took place in Real Madrid's game against Valencia last season.

The game was halted for 10 minutes in the second half as Vinicius Junior reported to the referee and pointed at the fans who had abused him.

Real Madrid reported this incident as a hate speech attack. Vinicius Junior once stated that racism is considered common in La Liga.

LaLiga president Javier Tebas had to apologize to Vinicius for calling the player manipulated after revealing the abuse he endured at Valencia.

Racial abuse against Vinicius has also continued this season. Recently, a Sevilla supporter was expelled from the stadium for allegedly racially abusing the former Flamengo player.

Vinicius appreciated the swift action taken by Sevilla in this incident. She noted that this was the 19th time she had been racially abused.

La Liga has also announced an investigation into allegations of racial abuse against Vinicius allegedly during last weekend's El Clasico match against Barcelona.

This incident allegedly occurred when Vinicius Junior was substituted at the end of the second half, to the point that he had to be bullied by the coach, Carlo Ancelotti.

In his acceptance of the Socrates Award at the 2023 Ballon d'Or ceremony, Vinicius Junior pledged to continue fighting racism.

"I will remain strong in the fight against racism. It's sad to talk about racism at this time. But we have to keep fighting so that people experience less suffering," Vinicius told Sky Sports.

"I am very happy to receive this award and help many children in Brazil. I have a small chance of getting to where I am today, given my background. So, it's an honor for me to help as many children as possible so that they have the opportunity," said Vini Jr.
