Austria took a 1-0 lead over Germany before the half-hour break. Baumgartner sent a pass to Sabitzer on the left side of the field. Sabitzer chipped the ball before finishing with a fierce right-footed shot that nestled into the bottom corner of the goal.
Amid an equalizing effort, Germany had to lose Leroy Sane. The referee brandished a straight red card at Sane after pushing Austrian left-back Phillip Mwene.
This situation made Germany unsteady. Austria finally extended its lead thanks to Baumgartner's goal after maximizing Michael Gregoritsch's pass.
