Irish singer Sinead O'Connor has died at the age of 56

The news that Irish singer Sinead O'Connor has died at the age of 56 certainly shocked the public. Sinead O'Connor passed away on Wednesday (26/07/2023) which was spread by the family.

The 'Nothing Compares 2 U' singer died shortly after her son was found dead in January 2022.

The family revealed the cause of Sinead's death.

"It is with great sadness that we announce our beloved Sinead has passed away. His family and friends are devastated and we ask for privacy at this very difficult time," his family told Irish television

About Sinead O'Connor

Sinead O'Connor was born on December 8, 1967, and is survived by three children and a grandchild.

She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and complex posttraumatic stress and borderline personality disorder.

In 2015, she underwent a radical hysterectomy to treat endometriosis, which left her devastated.

In addition to childhood trauma, O'Connor was shaken by the death of his mother in 1985 in a car accident.

He then moved to London to start a new life after leaving the Irish band, where he started playing music.

Sinead O'Connor converted to Islam in 2018.

She changed his name to Shuhada' Sadaqat although in music he kept his famous name.

But in 2021, Sinead O'Connor announced her retirement from music citing getting older and tired.

O'Connor's career

O'Connor released his debut album in 1987 and gained a global hit with Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U" in 1990.

O'Connor had made a sensation that made his career dim.

Unfortunately, after the song became a hit, he made headlines for tearing up a photo of Pope John Paul II during an appearance on Saturday Night Live, in 1992.

To the audience, he reasoned that he was fighting the real enemy. The action made his career dim.

The death of Sinead O'Connor is a sorrow for the Irish people. Irish politician Taoiseach Leo Varadkar wrote of his grief.

"One of our greatest musical icons, and someone much loved by the people of Ireland, and beyond. Our hearts go out to his children, his family, his friends, and all who knew and loved him," she said.

Culture and Arts Minister Catherine Martin expressed her sadness at the passing of a woman she described as "so talented and special". "His unique voice and innate musicality are very special... My condolences are with his family and everyone heartbroken to hear this news," he said.
