Shakira Solves Tax Fraud Case in Spain
Shakira has reached an agreement with the authorities, namely with Shakira to solve a tax fraud case in Spain.
This settlement occurred on the day before the trial began. Launching Variety, the Colombian pop star is scheduled to appear in court on Monday (20/11) local time to face tax evasion charges.
Shakira Has Repeatedly Denied Any Wrongdoing
Spanish authorities have claimed Shakira owes more than 14.5 million euros in taxes between 2012 and 2014.
He is accused of listing the Bahamas as his primary residence in those years but spent most of his time in Spain.

Shakira has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, opting to take the case to court rather than accept a settlement offer from authorities in July 2022.
According to the Associated Press, Shakira's deal includes a three-year suspended sentence and a 7 million euro fine.

This often means taking extra steps in business and personal finance decision-making to get the best advisor, including seeking advice from world-leading tax authorities such as PricewaterhouseCoopers International Limited, who advised me from the start.
Unfortunately, despite those efforts, Shakira said tax authorities in Spain filed a case against her as did many professional athletes and other high-profile individuals.
Shakira is determined to defend herself in a trial that her lawyer believes will win the trial.
Shakira has two sons with Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué. The couple split in June 2022.
If convicted, Shakira could face up to eight years in prison, plus a fine of 24.5 million euros.
The singer was in Spain last week to attend the Latin Grammys, where she performed and took home three awards. Included song of the year for Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53.
